Lead Remediation Plan

Laclede County C5 Lead Remediation Plan

In accordance with the amended Safe Drinking Water Act, JEB is in compliance with Lead in Your Drinking Water testing. We are required to publish our results within 7 days of receiving them and to communicate our findings along with the plan for remediation for any drinking water outlet that tests at 5 ppb (parts per billion) or more. We completed water testing on 33 drinking outlets on September 29 and shipped samples the same day. We received our test results on Sunday, October 15 via email. Our test results identified 3 locations that need remediation: the science lab, kitchen sinks, and the elementary water fountains. The science lab is no longer being used for the elective class where cooking was taking place. The kitchen sinks are not used for food production/preparation. The elementary water fountains have been closed this year due to plumbing issues but were tested for precautionary reasons. Because testing protocols require 2 draws of water from each source, the numbers indicated a decrease in lead on draw 2 vs. the initial draw, which required stagnation of 8 hours..  Those outlets were immediately ceased from operation. We have scheduled a consultation with water experts to complete the remediation. Until then, the 3 locations will not be used for drinking water. Upon remediation, additional required testing will be performed and we will publish those updated results to families on our website as well as communicate to parents. Please visit the parent tab of our district website to see the published results from Pace Analytical and let us know if you have any questions by calling 417-532-4837 or email frontoffice@jebc5.k12.mo.us.
